People say you want to really learn about history of Jazz musicians get all the albums by Miles Davis or Art Blakey Jazz Messengers because everyone at one point played in their bands. Well listening to everything put out by Blue Note records will give you a history of Jazz musicians and right up to today with Robert Glasper and others mixing genres for a new sound.This DVD gives you an in depth history of Blues Note thru the music and great photography that was also a part of Blue Notes mystic. I put this video in my computer (it has good studio monitors hooked up) planning to just scan it and watch it later, but once it started I couldn't stop watch. If I didn't have other things I have to get done I'd watch it again, but I will definitely be watching over and over in the coming weeks. The photographs, video interviews including current talks with Herbie Hancock and Wayne, then video of all the above playing. I know I will be buying more of this DVD to give as gifts to my friends. So glad I saw this and ordered it.
